Pupil Voice

At HHELC we pride ourselves on our pupils and students having a voice. We value their views on every aspect of school life and aim to nurture a culture where all pupils and students feel listened to, valued, respected and empowered. Pupil Voice encourages pupils to develop responsibility for their learning and gives them opportunities to influence our curriculum so that our teaching is personalised to their individual needs and interests.

As part of a rolling programme we schedule 1:1 discussions with pupils and students across the year as part of our monitoring and evaluation processes. These discussions include all aspects of school life including teaching and learning, the physical environment, resourcing and the organisation of events.

Teachers encourage our pupils and students to express their opinions in group discussions or one-to-one sessions with their teacher wherever the opportunity arises. The feedback we receive is carefully listened to and used to shape our teaching.
